Quick answer
What is a Coffervale storage VPS?
Coffervale rents storage VPS: KVM servers with 500 GB to 8 TB of HDD storage in Amsterdam, Bucharest or Chișinău, for off-site backups, Nextcloud, Syncthing and archives. You pay in crypto with no ID at signup. At the prices of 2 November 2026, 1 TB costs $1.66 a month on the 12-month term and $2.37 month to month.
Plans and prices
What plans are there?
Five, named after rock strata: Silt 500 GB $1.24/month on 12 months ($1.77 month to month), Clay 1 TB $1.66/month on 12 months ($2.37 month to month), Shale 2 TB $3.34/month on 12 months ($4.77 month to month), Granite 4 TB $7.53/month on 12 months ($10.75 month to month), Bedrock 8 TB $16.75/month on 12 months ($23.93 month to month). Every plan runs in all three cities at the same price; the full table is on the pricing page.
How are the prices set?
From a dated survey. On the 12-month term, each plan is priced at least 25% a month under a named reference plan (prices read on 2 November 2026): Silt against DeluxHost's “STORAGE-1” at $1.66 a month; Clay against DeluxHost's “STORAGE-2” at $2.22 a month; Shale against DeluxHost's “STORAGE-3” at $4.46 a month; Granite against DeluxHost's “STORAGE-5” at $10.04 a month; Bedrock against Hostbrr's “Hybrid 8TB” at $22.34 a month. To count as comparable, a plan has to be a storage VPS with at least as much disk, run in Europe, shown in stock and billed one month at a time, at a host that accepts crypto and requires no ID document at signup. At least one such plan was on sale at 10 hosts (VSYS Host, HostSailor, Privex, HostHatch, Hostbrr, NolimitHost, LiteServer, Cherry Servers, DeluxHost, PrivateAlps), and for each capacity the reference is the comparable plan with the smallest monthly price among them. Also not compared: BuyVM (every storage plan shown out of stock); MivoCloud (storage plans orderable only outside Europe); Senko Digital (every storage plan shown out of stock); VPSLab (no location stated for its storage plans); AlphaVPS (every storage plan shown out of stock); InterServer (storage plans orderable only outside Europe); RamNode (no location stated for its storage plans); VPSDime (every storage plan shown out of stock). Euro prices are converted at 1 EUR = 1.1172 USD (ECB, 30 October 2026); Hostbrr prices exclude VAT. We do not claim to be the cheapest at every size: the gap holds on the 12-month term, while month to month each plan costs a little more than its reference.
What does a longer rental length change?
Rent for 1 month, 3 months (10% off), 6 months (20% off) or 12 months (30% off): a longer term costs the monthly price times its months, less its discount, rounded down to the cent (Clay: $6.39 for 3 months, $11.37 for 6 months, $19.90 for 12 months). Each renewal repeats the same term at the price of your order unless you pick another term for the next renewal in your dashboard.
Is there a free trial?
No free trial: the smallest plan, Silt (500 GB), costs $1.77 for one month, or $1.24 a month on the 12-month term.
Which plan is best value per TB?
Clay, at $1.66 per TB a month on 12 months, with Shale right behind at $1.67. The larger plans cost a little more per TB because they carry more vCPU and RAM. According to Coffervale's survey of 2 November 2026, the median storage VPS from no-KYC crypto hosts cost $4.00 per TB a month; every row is in the storage VPS price index.
Does "1 TB VPS" mean storage or RAM?
Storage, always. Clay has 1 TB of HDD and 3 GB RAM; what a 1 TB VPS gets you explains the difference in full.
Paying and signing up
Which cryptocurrencies do you accept?
BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC; the smallest top-up is $25. Monero is not accepted today. Coins, networks and waits are on paying for a storage VPS with crypto.
Do you ask for ID?
No. No KYC: no ID document, no selfie, no card and no phone number is asked at signup. How other storage hosts handle this is compared in storage VPS without KYC.
Do I need an email address?
No. You sign in with an account number alone; an email address is optional and serves only to recover that number. The account number is the only key to your account: with an email on file it can be sent back to you, without one a lost number cannot be recovered by anyone.
What happens to a balance I do not use?
Credit on your balance does not expire and renews any of your VPS. When a top-up is only made to reach the minimum, the unspent part comes back on request within 30 days of payment, in USDT or USDC. The rest of a balance is not paid out unless the law requires it.
Who can order?
Only adults, aged 18 and over, may open an account. Residents and companies of Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Russia, Belarus, China, Yemen and Western Sahara, and of the occupied regions of Ukraine, cannot order.
Storage, speed and safety
What kind of disk do the plans use?
Every plan stores your data on hard disks (HDD) chosen for capacity, not speed: they suit backups, archives and file sync, not databases or heavy random reads and writes. We publish no speed or IOPS figure we cannot back.
Is the storage protected by RAID, and is that a backup?
We do not name a RAID level until it is confirmed to us in writing, so plan as if the disk were a single copy. Disk redundancy keeps a server running through a failed drive; it does not undo a deletion, ransomware or a lost account, so it is not a backup.
Do you back up my server?
No. We take no backup of your server and keep no copy of your data anywhere else, so what sits on a Coffervale storage VPS should be one of your copies, never the only one.
Is a snapshot enough as a backup?
A snapshot sits on the same disks as the server it captures, so it can roll back a mistake but it is not an off-site copy.
Is one storage VPS a 3-2-1 backup?
One storage VPS is one copy in one place. The 3-2-1 rule asks for three copies, on two kinds of media, with one of them off-site: a storage VPS fits as that off-site copy, next to two you keep yourself.
Can I encrypt my disk?
Yes. KVM gives your server its own kernel, so you can put LUKS on the data disk or run ZFS with native encryption, and the keys never leave you. For backups, encrypt on your own machine before upload (Borg, restic and Kopia all do it), so the server only ever holds ciphertext. Keep the system disk unencrypted and the data disk under LUKS: after a reboot, log in over SSH and unlock the data disk with your passphrase.
Setup and running
How fast is my server ready?
A person on the team creates your server once the payment is confirmed, so it is not instant; the dashboard tracks it until the IP address shows up.
How do I log in?
Root logs in over SSH. Paste a public key at checkout and password login stays off; leave the field empty and the team sets a temporary root password, shown in your dashboard, that you replace at your first login.
Which systems can I install?
Debian 13, Debian 12, Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, AlmaLinux 10, Rocky Linux 10. Linux only: Debian, Ubuntu, AlmaLinux or Rocky Linux. Windows is not offered.
How much traffic is included?
Each server has one IPv4 address and an IPv6 /64 on a 1 Gbit/s port, with a monthly traffic quota of 2 TB plus 2 TB per TB stored: 3 TB for Silt, 4 TB for Clay, 6 TB for Shale, 10 TB for Granite, 18 TB for Bedrock. Past the quota the port runs at 100 Mbit/s until the next period begins; nothing extra is billed.
Can I send email from the server?
Outgoing port 25 is shut on every server to keep spam out, permanently; mail providers stay reachable on ports 465 and 587.
Can I make my server bigger later?
To grow, order a larger plan and copy your data across with rsync or zfs send; resizing a running server in place is not offered at launch.
Account, support and rules
How do I reach support?
By email at [email protected]. A person answers support emails within 12 hours, seven days a week, including help with SSH keys, reinstalls and firewall rules. We run no phone line and no chat channel.
What am I not allowed to store or run?
Store what is yours or what you have the right to keep. Spam, attacks, malware, mining and abuse material are banned; the acceptable use policy has the full list. Each rule, with examples, is in the acceptable use policy.
What happens if I stop paying?
Each storage VPS is prepaid from your crypto balance for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months, picked at checkout. Auto-renew bills the same length again at the price you ordered at, unless you switch the next renewal to another length in the dashboard. If the balance cannot pay a renewal, the server stops when its term runs out, its disk is held for 7 days and then wiped.
Do you give refunds?
When we cannot deliver a server, or it fails and support cannot get it running, the lost days are credited back to your balance, which never expires. Top-ups are not paid out unless the law requires it; the part paid only to reach the minimum top-up can be returned on request within 30 days of payment, in USDT or USDC, as long as it is unspent. The cases are listed in the refund policy.
